Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. First of all, he was brought up by Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie. They lived on a farm near Eufala in Oklahoma as the eldest of the nine children they had. The second football was that his father was the only of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service was ten-hours per week as a volunteer in the college. Following graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times, he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relations Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Ten of America's top young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when he played college football. He was a captain in 1975. was on the team. team. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Florida's sports department as the Director of Athletics as an associate. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs..
